The Midnight Chef

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved friend and colleague, David “Julio The Midnight Chef” Malcom. For over 30 years, Julio’s warm voice, sharp wit, and genuine love of country music made our mornings brighter on WMOQ. He was always ready with a story, a laugh, and a reminder to cherish the simple joys of life.

A dedicated farmer, avid baseball fan, and a love of the Dawgs, Julio’s deep knowledge of country music was matched only by his passion for connecting with listeners across Morgan, Oconee, Walton, and beyond. Whether leading the "Morning Madness" show, broadcasting high school football, or chatting live with local callers, Julio made everyone feel like family.

His "Old Country Jukebox" Saturday evening show show provided listeners music from the ‘40s through the ‘70s and was a staple for decades.

He ended each broadcast with a simple yet powerful reminder: “Shake a hand, make a friend, never forget the power of prayer.” We will miss him dearly, but his voice and spirit will forever echo in our hearts.
